Mr. Robert James Melvin, affectionately known as “Gene,” age 69, son of the late Mr. Roosevelt Melvin and Mother Flora Mae Johnson Melvin, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center in Whiteville, NC.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Westside Funeral Home Chapel, 106 S Lewis St, Tabor City, NC 28463.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Mitchell Sea Missionary Baptist Church, Michell Sea Rd, Green Sea, SC. Burial will follow in Stephen-Wright Cemetery, Iron Hill Community, Tabor City, NC.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories his daughter, Latasha (Larry) Legette of Lumberton, NC; five sisters: Linda (Leon) Bennett of Loris, SC, Wanda Jarrott of Tabor City, NC, Gail Johnson (Harry Green) of Logan, GA, Ellen Young of Stone Mountain, GA, and Barbara Bellamy of Loris, SC; three brothers: Cornell Melvin of Lansing, MI, Terry (Selena) Melvin of Tabor City, NC, and Tracy Brown of Tabor City, NC; three grandchildren: Dominique Alford of Garner, NC, Quatrell Alford of Dallas, TX, and Darius Legette of Lumberton, NC; four great-grandchildren: Isaiah Alford, Amir Alford, Caden Bell, and Taylor Gerald; two aunts: Christine Melvin of Tabor City, NC, and Ruth Melvin of Conway, SC; a son of love, Tyress Bellamy of Little River, SC; his companion, Anna Reighard & Family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
